Le Potager

Take a look at this cute little film by Benoit Millot, Le Potager.

LE POTAGER from Benoit MILLOT on Vimeo.

Growing something in your garden or in containers on your balcony is an easy way to make some sustainable food. Having a lawn and mow it frequently is not eco friendly. Why not use a part of it for vegetables or strawberries and use your lawn mowings as mulching and fertilizer?
Growing vegetables can be both easy and difficult, depending on which vegetables you choose. But it's fun and it's a great way to teach your children (and yourself) about how nature works and where food comes from.

I challenge you to grow something edible this year!
Will you?

Custom peony

I've been working on some bibs and a custom order today.
This is a peony pouch for Jill. It is the last of my pink/red peony prints.

I just love...

...my new flower garland from Emma Lamb!

It's so beautiful and so well made!

And I think it goes together well with my Wood & Wool Stool.

A happy week to you!

Great Norwegian designed fabrics!

Lisbeth and Marie, the lovely ladies behind the children's clothing shop barnigjen.no, have new and exciting news!
They are launching a brand new line of fabrics in their shop.
The fabrics are designed by Cecilie Ellefsen and are named Jungel, Skyer and Tulipaner. (Jungle, Clouds and Tulips.) They are printed in Sweden, so this is true Scandinavian Design!
There will also be matching knit kits to go with the fabrics.
Isn't this great? I feel so excited about this!
I think it's such a bold and creative thing to do, to make these fabrics.
And personally, I also love that the fabrics are printed relatively locally and that the ethics are taken care of.

If you haven't seen it before, you should take a look at their shop. Lisbeth also sews redesigned children's clothes from vintage fabrics. Like this cute terry dress:
Lisbeth's blog, Hos barnigjen. Marie's blog, marieinwonderland.

Which fabric is your favorite?

1.1.11 -Happy New Year!

Here are some of the things I made last year. I have just started to use Picasa. It's easy to do fancy things, but I find it very hard to do things exactly the way I want to. I did several attempts on this collage, but I still miss an image in one of the squares. (And the images I deleted are still there...)
Thank you all for everything we shared last year. Thank you for all your lovely comments, your encouragement and for inspiring me so much!

I hope 2011 will be a great year for us all.
Let's go out there and make it an awesome year!

The best of 2010

If I should choose just one thing from 2010, the most important thing to me. It must be my walks in the woods.
I went through a diet, lost some weight and started exercising regularly.
I did not go to a fitness centre, like I've tried before. It's too boring and too hard to get there.
I just put on my trainers and walked to the woods behind my house. I rediscovered so much beauty, an array of trails and calming freshness. That feeling, to be there, in the greens.
I walked several evenings each week, and I became more fit and well exercised than I've ever been before. (And much more fun to not be angry at my body because my clothes don't fit me.)
Now it's cold and awful outside and I'm not walking. I'll maybe, just maybe, on a good day,  try to find my skis and go skiing.  But when the snow goes away, I will be out there again!

My sales around the world

I have used Travel Buddy to visualize where I've sent my designs.
I want to thank all my customers for your support through the two years I've had my Etsy shop!
